pics of front motor mounts, 750 motor, 600 frame.

i have read numerous threads and searched for hours to no avail.

Does anyone have pictures of the front motor mount fitment of a 750 motor in a 600 frame? (both 2002's) Before or after modifications should show me what im looking for. I know its off an inch or less but before i tear down my bike i wanted to see what i was working with. thanks

Over the next couple (several) weeks I will be doing this swap. Well an 02' 750 in a 03' 600 frame, same same. Hybrid racing (canada) does not sell a "bracket kit" for this swap because they say it requires cutting and moving the mount. I really don't want to cut the full mount off because one of the fairing mount bolts is on the mount and like you say its only off about half an inch. I also don't want to be welding on the thinner main frame.

thanks for the reply "ibbw". i did see one thread where a guy cut the cast mounts off a damaged frame and although i tig weld quite often i do not want to start modifying the frame. let me know how it fits if you get to it before i do. nice avatar from dig btw, gotta apreciate a fellow mudvayne fan.

This is due to the holes on the 1000 motor being higher than that of the 750, so it doesn't 'overlap the holes' as the 750 does in the 600 frame.

You see, the holes 'overlap' with the 750 motor in there, not allowing any sort of bracket or bolt to fit in there. With the 1000 motor, you don't have this problem cuz it's 'just' high enough allowing more room for brackets. Hope this makes sense.

This is what you're up against. This is a 750 in a 600 frame:

If that is the only mount that doesn't line up, can you cut and weld the cylinder head to fit the frame?

Re: pics of front motor mounts, 750 motor, 600 frame.

the 750 motor i have is from a crashed bike with a bent frame so i could easily cut the cast mounts off the frame and weld into the 600 frame but i feel that i might be better off trading my clean titled 600 frame for a 750 frame or trading the 750 motor for a 01-02 1000 motor for easier fitment. i own a few gsxr's and i have fun with these types of projects.

I have custom fitted a cr500 motor into a 250 frame (if you are fimaliar with a cr500af conversion) and i trust my life with my cut/chopped/welded frame but i did that (dirt)bike because that is the only option and if i could have bought an unmodified frame and have made it work i would have. if it was my only option i would cut/chop/weld the gsxr frame but it doesnt seem worth it, to do it right.

i think everyone with a 750 swap should consider selling their good 600 frames for the same price if not a couple hundred dollars less than a 750 frame and never having to worry about a modified frame. for the couple hundred dollar difference youd be saving yourself time if you weld or money if you were paying someone to do it.

that being said i have a clean titled 01 600 frame for sale or trade for a 750 frame......... or.... trade a 10k 2003 750 motor plus cash for a 1k motor.

thanks for the pics and maybe if this thread was stickied we'd see less threads of people asking if it is a bolt in affair. just an idea.

Can you put the 600 head on the 750 motor?

Re: pics of front motor mounts, 750 motor, 600 frame.

im guessing the cc difference between the motor is made in the stroke which is the reason for the longer cylinders and taller deck height, therefore making the mounts off by a few mm. i know the 750 and 1000 head is the same casting and the stroke is what makes the mounts not line up. i assume the same for the 600.

Re: pics of front motor mounts, 750 motor, 600 frame.

Thanks for the pics. It's only off a small amount. I'm thinking you could cut the mount off just above (1/2 inch) the hole, do some careful hand fitting and have it welded back. I am gonna cut mine and make a small (90) angle bracket and bolt it up to the the frame. I am not positive but I think there is also a width issue as well. I was told the 750 motor is about 1/4 inch wider across the head than the 600.
