just brought myself a 00 gsxr 600 and i cant get insured on the bloody thing !i am 20 so the bike is restricted to 33bhp. went to loads of insurance brokers and the only company that would insure me tryed to charge me £6500 anyone know of any good insurance companys for new ridders ?
Knight I'm certain he's either UK or Eire the £ sign is a dead give away. And (bloody) isint a us term. I feel kinda lucky my insurance don't go over £300 a year fully comprehensive.

I figured he was, just thought all around more info would be handy.
Mmmm most insurers don't like insuring sport bikes to under 21 espically as you claim it is restricted. They will want to see an independant report that it has been properly restricted by a qualified techician. Use the comparison sites it can get you a better deal.
i live in the UK went on moneysupermarket and they couldn't give me any quotes going to keep on looking just seeing if anyone else had any problems getting insured? i have been advised that if your under the age of 21 and dont have any no claims bonus you wont get insured for less than 5000 probaly should have checked this before i handed the cash over lol
Contact swintons they have a special bike section you might have some joy. When did you pass your teat and how long to your 21. All insurance companies don't like sports bike as first bike
i passed my test 2 weeks ago. i was going to take a DAS test to alow me to drive anysize bike but my birthday is in june so it is after the law changes so i wouldnt be able to drive the Gixxer anyway under the new law so will have to stick with the restriction for 2 years. they really dont make it easy !! going to give swinton a call tomorrow see if i have any luck. if not will probaly just buy a cheep smaller bike untill i turn 21 made the mistake of driving the Gixxer home so now i know how nice it rides lol just want to get out on it.

Re: 00 gsxr 600 insurance
I made that mistake a few years back when I bought a skyline...was only a GTS model but it was insurance group 20 ...not long after that, I fell upon bad times glad I can laugh about it now
Corona try MCE 0871 222 7920. I think your age is really going to hamper any chance of an affordable quote. Sure do the advanced course it will lower the premium but its still going to be pants down prices. The prices don't get reasonable until your over 25 unless Daddy can sort it out ( or fork it out ) maybe a 125cc for a couple more years?
A male under 25 is more dangerous than a 16-46yr old girl/woman putting on mascara, looking at a map, writing a txt message, playing with the radio, brail driving with her knee.
Just tryed the whole postcode thing as my postcode is the centre of Brighton saved myself £1200 but still leaves me with £5300 just found a suzuki bandet 400 for cheep so may just drive that for 1 year to get the 1 year no claim and I will be over 21 so should be able to afford it thanks for all the feedback people just wish it wasn't so difficult learnt my lesson now haha if only gsxr's weren't so nice I could just sell it but there's no chance of that happening lol
The change in rules next year is really gonna hurt some people. Have you thought about Kawasaki 250 ninja. Or get a aprilia rs125 full power. 33bhp a proper sports bike and a good way to learn how to maintain a bike. I still have mine never gonna sell it took much fun
