Aftermarket cooling fans for PS3

I keep getting the ylod. I am able to fix it myself each time. I use flux and arctic 5 (or whatever it's called) and 2 months later it happens again. I use to lay it flat inside a tv stand. Read that wasn't good so I took it out and have it upright and it still happened.

Any suggestions for additional cooling fans to keep this from happening? Sony

Take it apart and clean it. Fans only move the air. Having clean surfaces allows it to exchange the heat more efficiently. Most people don't even realize how a little dust can block a lot of cooling capacity.

definitely sounds like a cooling issue. i would check gamestop's site to see what fans they offer for the PS3. worse case scenario, take a typical desk fan and just plug it in and blow air into the PS3 and see how long you go with that. when i was a teenager, i did this with an old PC that had a crapped out cpu fan and kept shutting down due to overheating.

Prefer a heat gun.

The first time it happened I cleaned it really well. The next 2 times there was hardly any dust but did clean it again.

I'm certainly no electrical wiz, but that oven method is not nearly as ridiculous as i thought it would be. He makes some good points of why it is better than a heat gun. maybe try giving it a shot?
