Just checking in to say hello. Still no power here in NJ but we're surviving with a generator and now, at least, limited internet.
In general, we came out of this storm in decent condition. No damage to the house and only a few small trees down in the back. Other than that, we've had no power since 6pm on Sunday but we've had hot water and use of the stove, so not too bad.
Fingers are crossed that the power comes back on today since power is restored just north of us, south of us and on the west side of our town.
That's all for now.

Good luck and glad to hear you stayed safe. Everything is fine down by me, we got some strong winds and heavy rain at times. Other than that, business as usual. No one lost power, or at least for long and all the gas stations have gas.

I have a few cousins that live right on the NJ shoreline and they weren't so fortunate.
It's quite devastating what happened to the shore. There are many place that will only exist in my memory from here on out. Seaside used to be go to destination for us back in the day...now it's gone.
As soon as life becomes somewhat normal, I'm going to take a drive down to see what's left.

The images I see on the local news is terrible. Sorry to see the destruction Sandy caused and hope you and your family/friends are coping well.

Re: Hello......
Glad you're doing ok nj. I too am without power and running on a borrowed generator I got yesterday. Getting gas has been a nightmare. Stood in a line of 350+ people for $25 worth of gas.
cable/phone/internet - good
house/property - damage free
car - full tank of gas and nowhere needed to drive
power - iffy, 1/2 of house is OK, but I think there's a fuse blown in the transformer outside so no 220 working in the house and 1/2 the circuits are on low voltage.
Well, we're still without power but at least we now have heat in the house. I took the extra generator that I was using to run sump pumps at my mom's house to run our furnace.
So all in all, we're good but we're getting low on gas so it looks like we are going to have to make a gas run in the morning to fill up a few more cans. I've already drained the GSXR, dirt bike and most of the gas in the riding mower. I still have almost a full tank in the RC51 and our 2 CRF50's are full so we have an extra 5+ gallons as a reserve. Still have 10 gallons in cans but that's only going to last about 2 more days.
Oh yeah....the area is possibly going to be hit by a Nor Easter on Wed with heavy rain and wind for the coast and 4+ inches of snow for the northern part of the state (also coastal flooding for the people who REALLY don't need it at this time). Talk about getting kicked in the nutz when you're already down and out.

Damn awful times for all my east coast GDC-ers. I hope you all come through this okay. How are the kids, NJ?
.
Kids, wife, dogs and cats are all doing fine. Zero damage to the house, a few small trees down in the back yard, no power since Sunday and that's about it. Biggest issue is keeping the kids from going postal due to nothing to do.
Oh yeah, that getting gas to keep the generators and cars running.....SUCKS!!!!!
Time for another beer and some DVD time on the bedroom tv!

We usually go to AC once or twice a month. I just got an email from Trop saying they re-opened today. It will be interesting to see what the view from the hotel rooms look like now.
I heard that there's been new inlets created now along the shore.
