Well, saw some of the new jap bikes for 2013. Wow, nothing so far as updates again save for Kawasaki (good on them). The 2013 r6...still the same one as from 2006. Bike is now 7 years old, no wonder people dont buy a new r6 anymore for 11-12k when they can get an 06 r6 for 3-4k. Same r1 as 09. CBR 1000rr got "updated" this year so nothing new. what about the cbr 600rr? zx10r still current. suzuki, heres hoping you update the 600/750, 1000s... your all thats left.
Europeans keep whooping ass with all the big upgrades. At least kawi is stepping up. what do you guys all think?

It is this little thing called global recession and natural disasters on japan.
I like the 2012 Fireblade and think the updates to that were quite nice. Nothing would be happening with that in 2013.
Suzuki, well they have the 2012 GSXR, same thing.
Again for the ZX10R, 2011 model, not gunna be a big new refresh
And for Yamaha, electronics update in 2012...
Pretty sure Joe nailed it on the head...
Also, look at Yamaha. No WSBK presence, I havn't seen much of them in WSS. In MotoGP, struggling to get a main sponser and funding the team themselves.
Plus compared to some of the others, they aren't quite on the same scale company wise.
KHI is a massive organisation like Honda, maybe that explains why they have been able to pull a new model out. They may have weathered the economic storm a bit better, with many different sectors to fall back on.
I think what we have seen is pretty damn good really. Especially the electronics that are coming in. Stuff the SBK guys would have killed for 7 years ago. Same with tyres...hmmm

You wont get much from Suzuki, they are making more ££ and profit from their cars now...they know their range is a tad tired and lacks inspiration but there up against it, they are the smallest of the big four and hurting even more for it.
Sales and marketing from Suzuki told me this just last month, back in the early 2000's, 50,000 sportsbikes where sold PA the vast majority GSXRs of various cc's, in 2011 around 15,000 where sold and GSXRs are in a minority..sportsbikes sales have fallen off a cliff, so why develop them for a declining market sector?
2006 Gixxer 1000 on Ohlins and Brembo was laying it down at the track. The guy was several seconds ahead of the new crop including the BMW, 1199 and ZX-10R.
Just pick a bike you like and build it for your riding needs.

New does not mean faster lap times.
Don't you have a brand new 1000??
And it was the typo of the year. Abysmal. Was thinking abyss I suppose.
Overall, 600s in general no longer lead the pack. I see 1000s being the bike of choice now, starting to outsell 600s. Sad but true, the price difference for a 1000 vs a 600 has gotten tighter. Fork up 12k for a new zx6r, or get a new s1000rr for another 4k. A bike with electronics up the wazoo.
+1. All current bikes and most generations before them are all so good that the bike is better then 95% of the riders. It would be nice to see more electronics on the jap bikes, but it will come in time, just slower due to the recession. As for the suspension, power, etc though most all of the bikes now will out do most all riders unless they are racing expert class or faster.

Yes I have a 2012 1000.
For racing the 600 still leads the pack and is still much more track day friendly than the 1000.
