Anyone done the SV1000 caliper upgrade to their K1/2?

I had a K1 from new in 2001 and even back then I didn't rate the brakes as highly as those on the 2000 R1 I had before, which was irritating, as the K1 was significantly better than the R1 in every other respect.

I just bought a lovely used K1 which has had a master cylinder 'upgrade' (to a K5 radial) and the brakes are not great.

I read on another thread that PB improved a K1's braking distance significantly by fitting SV1000 K3 calipers, which are cheaply available used.

My question is, has anyone done this? If so, was it a bolt on job or was some fabrication required?

CBR, RC51 Nissins are the duck's nuts. Require a little bit of dremelling on the leading edge.

I have a pair of RC51 calipers knocking about in the garage from a 2001 929. Have you actually done this conversion? When you say dremeling the leading edge can you give me a better description or may be post/send me some pictures if you have done it?
I agree these brakes are the nuts, would love them on my K1. Cheers

The edge that sees the rotation of the disk first. The bridge between the caliper halves. The caliper doesn't sit square on the disk, it's cocked a little so there is a slight clearance issue.
