Hi All,
After collecting parts for some time i've started the rebuild of my RK.
Since originallity is long gone for this one, it will be more a sort of race bike, which does make thing a little easier (i hope)
Now that the bike is in bits, some interesting colors came up, beeing a pink or purple color on the frame and yellow on the engine covers.
Now i would love to have a bit more info on the history of this bike, which was first registered in the Netherlands in 2002.
Someone pointed out to me that these are vance and hines colors of back then, so i was wondering if anyone has more info or photo's of gsxr's in those colors..
I was just about to say Yamaha. I've got a friend who did up his Yamaha (correct year) with the V&H Yellow/Pink ... looks great ... but alas, Pink & Yellow & Suzuki was never to be.
V&H Suzuki collaberation was '85-'87. Red/Blue/White. 1st gen 750.
That was the OWo1's and most sure they were AMA not World Superbike back then. Plus the frames were not painted that color. (meaning the Vance and Hines never raced World Superbike)
nice old footage! (RIP Larry S). young Collin Edwards looks like Vanilla ICE !
Those were the good old days!
BTW: OWO1 was a dominant force in early wold superbikes as well as AMA RACING IN 89 90 91 92 93 Till is was replaced. It gave many a rc30 rider fits of frustration. Carl Fogerty Put in a Historic Ride on one in the 92 isle of man TT.
Sweet bikes made for racing!
I know those are yamaha's, but i found that film searching old V&H colored racebikes.
I have found that color under the shock mount, and on other places.
I've found the frame has been sandblasted to remove the colors, and then polished.
The bolt holes on the engine covers still had the yellow in them.
We'll see, the search for the history of the bike continues..
wanting to put the old girl back together. wreck it about 8 years ago and it was running great before someone pull out in front of me. been sitting in my garage ever since frame broke, forks bent, both rims broke, tank has huge dent, motor has no visible damage but has not been started in 8yrs... rebuilt top end about 10 yrs/5000 miles ago bike has 27000 miles on it. should i tare down engine or just clean carbs and see if she fires? any tips on starting a motor that been sitting so long? don't want a restore just looking to get her back on the road any advice would be greatly appreciated
That style lift used for your bike... is a little intimidating. I've seen a few incidents involving tips, and for a 25-26 yr old vintage slabbie... I don't believe I'd use that style lift for anything but a MX dirtbike. That's just me though...
