I've worn through my Alpine Star GP Tech gloves and have some Held Speed III for the street. I was thinking of getting the Held Titan because of the nice feel the kangaroo leather gives.
Handroids also, love the kangaroo leather. They take some getting used to as far as the exoskeleton and fasteners, but once you do they're awesome. I've never crashed in them, though.
Crashed in a pair of Joe Rocket Speedmasters, and although they protected my hands, the seam exploded on the left one.
But if I were to pay for another set right now, it would either be Heroic Racing, or Helds. But if I went with the helds I would have Alexa at Spyderleatherworks add a pinkie bridge to it.
Dainese Full Metal Racers. Expensive but definitely worth it. They have great protection (both my team mate and myself have "tested" that the hard way) yet you get awesome control feel.
Dainese Pro-Carbon White. They come in XS (which is hard-to-find in men's gloves) and they fit great. I'm about 5'3" so yeah and I wear small gloves. Love Dainese products and I do appreciate their wider size-range coz most American manufacturers simply ignore this size but go well into the XXXXL sizes.
I had to shave down the right-hand ring-finger lower plastic knuckle-guard with a Dremel coz it was clinking against my Pazzo lever in a highly-annoying fashion. Problem-solved.
The Dainese are quality leather and broke in very quickly. There's also no extraneous bulk (like my Arlen Ness gloves) and no goofy closure methods. Simple and effective, and good-looking. Also available in white for my preferred color-scheme (bonus).
Alpinestar GP-Pro. Crashed in them numerous times and no busted seams or work through leather. Looking for a street pair and I'm not sure what'd I'd like since I'll try just about anything.
I have the Heroic SPR-Pro. They are really comfortable. I crashed in them once and some of the palm slider stitching came out, dented a few of the metal knuckle pieces. They hit the ground pretty hard, and I tumbled from ~100mph.
Overall, I think they did OK. I would rather have not had the palm sliders stitching come out, but I guess they did their job
but if you're already considering the titan, pretty much any top glove is up for grabs now ay?
btw i think heroic racing stopped making the spr-pro's because of some sizing issues. (though he said he would try to fix asap to bring the spr-pros back) This was when i emailed him back in january about securing a pair so things may have changed.
I have both the Held Phantom and the Titan, the Titan is definitely more substantial but it is more bulky as well. I have both and they are both in the same condition and I almost always wear the Phantom, I'd say save the 125 price difference and I think you will be really happy with the Phantom. I've been using them since they came out, one or two good crashes and they are done but I've never felt compromised when crashing that they weren't fantastically safe gloves. They are a bit minimalistic in the palms and fingers but I like the feel they provide. With 8-10 race weekends per year and 10-20 days of coaching, they usually last me about 1 full year if crash free and then the sweat salt starts to break them down.
