Tank bag?? I need one....

So I need a tank bag.. I would like one to hold my wallet, bottle of water and maybe some other things also or if I could get a bigger one that does not get in the way I would take that instead. I am having a hard time finding one that would fit on my sportbike due to the size of the tank and also the plastic on the sides of the tank..

Who has a tank bag and how does it fit? I would like one that is big-ish, but not restricting my arms while riding. I was thinking of the coretech mini, but that might be too small or too big. it is hard to tell from the pics on the site if the bag is too big or too small..

So if anyone has a tank bag, please let me know how you like it or if you do not like it, what you would rather have.

Hell, any info would be great. I want to get a bag ASAP so I dont have to jam all my stuff in my pockets and keep losing my wallet in the tail of the bike..

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

^^^ sorry, but those links suck, they are all from 2008 and no one says anything about what tank bag they use or what bike they have. lacking any input on why is good about the bag and any other info that would be helpful.. What the hell is the point of saying go with a tank bag but not giving a brand or a reason why? I hate people who respond with "go for it dude" what kinda help is that?

I know someone has to have a tank bag? I have looked at 100's of bags but it is hard to tell from the pics they use as it looks like they photo shop the bag onto the bikes in the pics?

I will give a big thank you to who ever can help me out. Maybe even a +1 if you do not say "just go for it" LMAO...

Just go for it dude...

Seriously though, if you have a bike shop that sells gear ride over and put some bags on your tank. Thats the best way to find out what works for you and your bike.
Ive been rocking an Oxford tank bag for probably 5 or 6 years now and have been very happy with it. They have changed their color schemes since then and Im not too fond of them now.

Sportbiketrackgear have some nice tank bags as well, and you could call them for questions.

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

^^ LOL..

Thanks for the info, what size is/was your bag, either in inches or liter? it is hard to tell how big these things are..

I would go to a bike shop and try some out, but there is not many bike shops in my area that carry gear.. There use to be many bike shops around me but it seems they have all closed up and are gone, the few that are left do not stock any products. You have to pay for the part, get it sent to the store then try it out. and I have found that the few places around here do not like to return the parts if the customer did not like them. I have gotten stuck with $$ gear because it did not fit correct and the shop did not want to return it for me.

This is why I was hoping to get some imput on some bags from fellow riders.. People who use a bag and know it is not too big.

I would call STG on this situation, but they only have 2-3 tank bags that I like so I do not know if they could answer my questions on other bags..

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

I've seen the Cortech mini tank bag on a few of the new Gixxer's at my local cycle shop. It's pretty tiny, but you would still be able to get your wallet, phone, and a bottle of water in there easy. You could even probably fit all of that plus some if you really wanted to.

Personally, I would just get something like this.

My ICON tank bag is the only ICON product I own. I love it, not too big or too little, easy on and off, carrying straps. It is priced right too.

That Joe rocket bag was one of my choices, I just wish it had a full clear pocket in the front to hold my phone. If it had that I would buy it in a second. I was looking at the XL version of this too, I was on you tube for a few hours looking at tank bags vids and was able to see a few bags on some bikes.. The Manta XL bag was on a 07 GSXR-600 in one vid and it looked like it would work with the plastic tank the new bikes have. So the Joe Rocket Manta might just be the ticket for what I want in a bag.

Hahaha. Well, if you get me a tank bag, we can talk about the tea-baggin..

It is not easy looking at these tank bags. I know my bike has the half plastic gas tank and that is the big issue I am having finding a bag. Like I posted above (same with the other guy) the Joe rocket Manta bag looks like it would fit the new GSXR's very well.. Whan I saw the vids on youtube the J.R Manta bag looks slim and like it will not get in the way at all..

I was looking at that bag too. I hate Icon, but a bag is a bag and it not protecting me in anyway, so whatever with the brand in this case.

The only thing I did not like was how the bag looked on the bike in one of the vids I saw. It looks a little long for my taste, but then again it could have just been vid and the way it made it look?? If you have a pic of the bike with this bag onplease post it up or if you have any other faults with the bag please share....

Like I said, most pics and vids do not show people on the bikes or any good info like that. they are all sitting on the table and the vids are shaky so you can not tell how a bag would fit on a bike.. I wish STG would have more vids on tank bags. They are the only website that have useful vids..

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

^ I was looking at that bag too, that one seems to fit the bill also but Like you said you might have to get the one with the straps to hold it in place. This is what I wanted to avoid because I would like to just throw the bag on and take it off just as easy. THe straps would not be tooo bad it the bag fit well and the sraps mounted easy, but I have sometimes heard the straps to not work all that well and the bag may slip now and then..

And if anyone is looking for another bigger bag, look at the Moto Centric rapid trans bag,
Looks nice and gets great reviews. I can not say if it will work on the half plastic tanks though. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...-Tank-Bag.aspx

Here is the same as above, but is a strap mounted bag for you half plastic guys who get screwed out of any other nice bag that is only mag mounted.. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...-Tank-Bag.aspx

Here is the Joe Rocket XL bag, this one will fit on the half plastic bikes and looks sharp. I just wish it had a few updates to make it superb. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...-Tank-Bag.aspx

I saw a sweet tail pack that was small and just wrapped around the rear pass seat to mount. THis looked AWESOME for a little tail pack. I will find more info on that and post it up too.

I think I am going to hire some teens girls and start my own tank bag manufacturing plant. LMAO. I will take your sugestions and make a bag that you want.. WHat a freaking idea huh? Listen to real riders and do what they ask. That is unheard of in this world.. LOL.

I would take the Joe Rocket Manta bag, make a clear window for the phone add on a clear map pocket for the top compartment and change the front circle pocket to a square... Done and done!! MIllion dollars here I come...

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

I have an Ogio tank bag. Really happy with it, has a clear cover for either my GPS phone, or an old school map. 3 side pockets with a large center compartment and a rain fly in case I get stuck in a downpour. Bought mine new for 68 bucks from a local place.

Re: Tank bag?? I need one....

I have both Joe Rocket bags.

The manta is great for short trips with more than enough room to hold my cell phone, hat, keys etc.

Since its bigger I usually use the XL bag for longer trips and use it to carry clothing and other stuff.

I have a K8 750 and had to glue washers to the underside of the plastic on the tank to get a strong grip on the front,
