I've had friends come visit that aren't from around. Both White and other races and when they exit the freeway and see welcome to Compton they'd freak out lol. So now when they ask me for directions i make them exit on the other side of the city where Lynwood/South gate meet and completely avoid compton lol.

Lots of rod iron, dead overgrown weeds, chain link, random dogs chained with a stake of some sort, streets that public works seemed to have forgotten about, and a few other things

That exists here, not really sure on what scale. I've been to a few "bad" areas throughout my life in Canada.
I lived in Ottawa (capital city of Canada) for a year and lived in the "rough" neighborhood. Probably doesn't compare to Compton but it was the type of place where people got stabbed and robbed a lot.
We didn't know that at the time we moved there however.

Speaking of which the apartments across from my dad's house were raided by the cops a few weeks ago. They kicked in the door and came out with a naked lady sort of wrapped in a towel. I guess that they caught her in the shower. They also had some assault rifles and random duffel bags The guys that are normally hanging out there haven't been seen for weeks so i take it that they heard about the raid and skipped town .
I would have to disagree that the majority of Long Beach is unsafe and close to compton. I wont deny that there are bad parts of Long Beach, the areas near Compton are one of them. But there is a lot to Long Beach besides the bad areas and the Million dollar areas you listed. Most of Long Beach is middle class and most of it is nowhere near Compton.
As for Compton. I would have to say its not getting any worse, but not really any better either. I wouldn't recommend going there unless you had to but if you are there as long as you stay on main streets (preferably in a car, or at least with a group of unassuming people) and don't bring attention to your self you should be fine.
That said, I have gone to Compton a few times and nothing has happened to me (I am a white male). I didn't walk anywhere, just basically parked my car and walked the 20-50ft to where I was going and then back to my car. I wouldn't walk around, but people do live there and carry on their lives. From crime stats I believe it is actually safer being white in Compton than black or Hispanic. But still wouldn't recommend it.

the are for none structural parts and will be fine for what they are made.
