new spark plugs are on the way, hopefully that's all it needs.
also, after cranking on it for a while i did get the rpm's to jump a little, started to get some white smoke out of exhaust along with some black flakes..
The flakes just look like carbon build up but it's hard to tell from the picture. Have you had the exhaust off yet to take a look and see if you find anything? The no-start just sounds like plugs, don't think you're getting a spark.
the black flakes are paper thin and extremely brittle if that gives any kind of indication, but i didn't take exhaust off yet, just looked down there with a light.. saw nothing (duh) lol
and i think at least 1 plug was going bad last season so im sure the rest weren't far behind
whats the year of the bike cuz my 97 gsxr didnt start cut the the main fuel line where the hose goes into the carbs was clogged with old gas easy fix carb celaner and seafome
replaced the plugs. the old ones were completely black - my dad thought the bike was running rich last season and i think it has contributed to the no start.
with the new plugs the bike did actually crank over after trying for a few minutes and started. tried giving it just a little gas and it died. It wouldn't start again after that.
pulled 1 of the new plugs out and it has a blackish color to it. I got a picture of all this stuff, but i don't think it will help.
I'm going to start reading up on how to drain fuel or should i start somewhere else?
Been reading up some more.
I'm going to try adjusting the TPS for the rich fuel problem. I'm not sure where it's set now, but if it's in the middle should I try adjusting it to the lower marking?
My understanding is that this will lessen the amount of fuel:air.
1 more thing. this is the new plug after cranking on the bike for a few minutes and it was actually running for a minute
Did you manage to start your bike? Mine is doing the same, turns over but won't start.
I Ended up draining all of the fuel, cleaned the plugs with a torch, add fresh fuel, and eventually it cranked over.. had to keep pumping the throttle though. my guess is that injectors were nearly clogged?
Ran some sea foam with the fresh tank of gas and putted around a parking lot for a few mins. After that, checked for any oil leaks around the new woodcraft starter/stator covers because i just put those on whilst i researched/diagnosed the no-start.
I cleaned my plugs and filled tank with fuel then tried to start again with no joy. Sounds like you had to try for a little while so will try again tomorrow for a bit longer.
When you try to start it are you pumping the throttle? essentially, i think that's all my bike needed to finally fire up. give it a minute though in between each attempt to let the plugs dry off. also make sure you're getting spark on all 4 plugs

Tried to pump the throttle, started for a few secounds but need to use throttle. Can't get it going again so going to try some new plugs when they arrive next week.
Thanks for the advice, new spark plugs did the trick. Tick over is a bit lumpy but a run should sort this as the injector cleaner can then take affect.
