Talking New Tank Pad

Found in England, made by Suzuki. Just got it delivered and installed. I recall someone saying it wouldn't fit... I made no alterations. Straight from package to bike. It's a GSX R600.

Enjoy!

I'm never fond of the vinyl " maxie pad " look alike protectors. But, that is nice.

I would rock one if it didn't have the branding on it.

I was told it wouldn't fit as I nearly bought one. Glad to see you pulled it off though.

There's several options. I prefer the 3M clear tank kit. It's extremely protective while allowing a stock tank look which I like. The kit covers a large portion of the crotch all the way up to the tank filler and two pieces that cover the complete sides all the way up to the tank cowl. 12k miles of leathers and knee pucks rubbing against my tank and not the slightest appearance of wear to the film. If you didn't personally know it was on the bike you'd never know by staring at the tank up close. Best 30 bucks I've ever spent on any bike. More area of coverage and better appearance in my opinion than most options available. It can be torn off at any given time without the slightest damage to the paint too. I've added pieces to the tail and lowers to prevent scratches as well. Those are two additional places vulnerable to wear. Awesome product for rocker panels on vehicles to prevent rust and rock chips as well.

Ok. PearlJam, I'll bite... where do you get it? I'd love to try it out on the front of the fairings right behind the front tire as I have already seen a few nicks from rocks I'm guessing. If it's invisible as you say, then I'd put it there for sure.

Thats what I'm looking for! Although...you don't wish you chose something like stomp grips or the like for the corners? Or does the 3M give a sense of sticky as well?

A lot of guys like the stomp grips. I for one do not like the looks of it. I like the bare stock look of a complete tank and never in my life had a problem with holding on to any bike even at a full lean while hanging off at high speeds, etc. Your outside thigh holds anyone to the bike. Leather is quite sticky to a painted surface. Especially when it's warm. The 3m vinyl creates the exact same adhesion when leather is pressed to it as does the stompgrip. Therefore due to cosmetics and never feeling a better need to stick to the bike I like 3m better. But, quite a few like the stompgrip too. Both great products.

Buy the 30 dollar one. It is made of thicker vinyl. However the cheaper one is made to be removed and reused more times than the 30 dollar version. If you read the directions on the site it explains that. I bought the 30 dollar version and couldn't be happier. Once you remove the better version it can not be reapplied. Unlike the cheaper one can be reused over and over after removing it. But, isn't as durable as the more expensive version.

Re: New Tank Pad

Pearljam,
What would you recommend picking up for the front fairing as I described in my first post (#13)?
