How to change the front sprocket?

I Haven't looked into it too much but I was wondering if someone had any tips or maybe a how to on changing the front sprocket. I know tipicaly its just pull the case that covers it and pull the nut and thats pretty much it.. When I was looking at it, it looked like there were some lines/ or covered wires running that part of the case? Do I have to do anything with those? Any tips on what would make it easier its greatly appricated! Thank you

Re: How to change the front sprocket?

one is your clutch cable and the other is for the speed sensor. on my 05 i didn't do anything with them just tilted the cover back and up with them still attached. make sure you have a big driver, torque wrench, some blue threadlock for the bolt holding in the speed sensor rotor and some red threadlock for the nut holding the sprocket on. use a 2x4 through the spokes of the back wheel to keep it from spinning when loosening and tightening that big nut. also make sure to turn your chain adjuster bolts all the way so you can slide rear wheel forward and get chain off and on the front sprocket. good luck.

Re: How to change the front sprocket?

I just changed out my front sprocket a month ago. All I did was undo the case, move it to the side with the cables attached still. Then you just wrench off the speed bolt and then the big nut.

If you take the cables off I'm assuming you would have to bleed the clutch, so I would just leave everything that is attached to the case alone.

Ok thanks, I just wanted to check. I hate running into something unexpected.

Can someone tell me what size wrench the big nut that holds the sprocket on it? I have a bunch of smaller wrenches but need to pick up the one to fit that nut. Thanks!!
