98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

I just purchased a used tank for my 98 GSXR 750, as the one I bought the bike with was rusted out. I cleaned up the original fuel pump and it bolted up inside no problem. The tank has three metal nipples sticking out the rear. I added fuel and after putting about one gallon in, gas started flowing out of the middle nipple. Do I need to run a fuel line to this nipple? If so, where does it connect to on the fuel rail? All other fuel lines are connected like they were with the original tank. ANY HELP or answers would be greatly appreciated.

That is your fuel RETURN line.
A hose goes from the fuel rail to that nipple.
The other ones are a vent and a drain.

Re: 98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

Thx for the photos. What year is your bike? Mine does not look the same. This bike is an ex track bike and a real bucket. Who knows what the previous owner did under the tank?

Mine is a 98 GSXR 750 Fuel Injection with a messed up wiring harness, chopped, spliced and zip-tied to death. I bought it without a tank adn just installed used tank and it fired right up thanks to the guy's on here who helped me out THESRADIATOR & GSXR-Freak.
Mine is setup for track and hopefully all I need to do is clean up the wiring or replace, install coolant overflow resevoir and should be trackn it soon.

Re: 98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

If it was not for this thread I would never have got my bike running. I followed another person's instructions who said that the return line was the far right nipple and not the middle one. If you put it on the far right nipple gas will just pump out the top of your tank through the overflow. This was very irritating.

Thank goodness I found this thread that made me try the middle one.

Re: 98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

there's no return hose a carburated 600 and 750,,,i believe the middle one is the return on a Fuel injected model tank,,,you can cap and use your carb pump..

Re: 98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

This could be a closed threat, but I have bought a few month ago a 99 GSXR 750. I realize that the drain hole was cover with a piece of wood, I take it off and fuel start gushing from the tank, when I rode the bike (imagine where all the fuel goes :S). When I take the tank of I realize that only to connection are in the back of the tank, one is the recovery and the other is connected to a plug in the right part of the frame, but no hole for the drain!!
I'm at a loose, and now reading this post I'm thinking... could be a 600 tank that someone cut the drain inside the tanks and adapt it to the 750, but need to close the upper drain hole?
I'm thinking of getting all the fuel out and disassemble the fuel pump to check. Any advice?? Could I be right???

PS: Sorry if my English is not the best

Re: 98 SRAD 750 fuel line routing problems

Just in case that someone read this. I open the tanks and took all the fuel out. Just like I was supposing this is a Carb tank that some genius just cut in the inside the water draining to converted to a FI tank, but now the water just could go in the fuel tank.
But the main reason for me to open it was that in Florida in a hot summer day the vapors of the fuel condensate and start messing the paint in the ribbon of the tank fuel gap.
