I need to fab a bracket to house my 03/04 gauge housing. Anyone got any pics of their install?
Just zip tie it to the srad bracket you can't see it when the fairing is installed and if you bolt it on if you need to remove it you have take the front of the bike apart you seen mine it's just zip tied in there i have no problems reading it if you make sure it's tight.....

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

hmm... why can't you just get the gauge and plug it into the socket? i mean like is it okay to just buy a 01 600 gauge and then just plug it into the new one? my 98 gsxr 600 doesnt have f.i. that's ok right?

because the pinouts are different.
becuase two of the wires appear to send different signals.
becuase you need an "always hot" lead to power the clock.

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

yeah, ive read that the wiring to the plugs is different. i havent got the gauges yet, they're on their way. but even if the plugs are the same, the wiring is not... i think?

i know that the gear change indicator and the shift light wont work, i'm not worried about that. as long as the tach, speed, temp and warning lights work, i'll be happy. it sounds like no-one has tried it?

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

i have a 97 750 that i put 03 guages on, the fuel injection light blinks when i kill it, but does not stay on, however the "CHEC" always appears and the low fuel light also always appear. i am almost to the point of putting an analog temp guage on it. the guages are nice thought, between them, the 92 yamaha headlights and the shark skinz, it really throws people off.

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

No I don't think so.
I was hopeful that it was a case of something like:

OLD Style: Close the loop to alert
NEW style: Open the loop to alert

and it'd be a simple relay or transister would "fix" the problem -- but looks like it's not that simple.

Someone touting "electrical engineer" skills said they'd solve it -- haven't heard from them.

I'm getting ready to sell my 2001 750 guage (complete with "blue guage"s)

How much would you be willing to let the gauges go for?

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

here is the pin matchup again...note, on the old side, 16 & 13 are blank, so, you could match them kinda like i've matched them here. For right now, i've just matched the wiring, haven't really connected anything just yet...

New - Old
1 - 12 ignition
2 - 13 + 12v constant
3 - 1 High Beam
4 - 9 R-Turn
5 - 10 L-Turn
6 - 6 Oil
7 - 7 Temp (sensor)
8 - 11 Tacho
9 - 3 Illumination
10 - 8 Temp
11 - 2 Neutral
12 - 15 Speed Sensor
13 - 16 empty
14 - 4 Fuel A
15 - 5 Fuel B
16 - 14 Speed Plus

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

I forget what I"m into it for; I think about 250; but I wouldn't expect that much.

I haven't given up all hope yet; just most of it... <G>

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

No bother,

I come from a physics / computers / electronics background. I have sourced a load of a set of clocks from a K1 from a friend that is race preping a bike. I'll have a look using some of the equipment I have and see what I can suss out.

Re: New gen gauge swap info/instructions

I have a speedo off a '02 GSXR1000 and I'm going to mod to my 1997 GSXR11000. My question is what year harnesses will plug into this speedo...From reading this post a speedo harness from the following work?

'97 - '00 GSXR600
'96 - '99 GSXR750
'01 - '03 GSXR600
'00 - 03 GSXR750
'01 - '02 GSXR1000

Just want to make sure before I go eBay shopping.

Thankx for the help

If someone donates a gauge set to me, I could probably figure it out. I actually am an electrical engineer.
