i have a 97 gsxr 750 and when i start the bike it runs for about 7 seconds then floods out. what i noticed is that carbs 3 and 4 both seem to be getting a lot of fuel spraying out the carbs and it seems like the bike floods. also i noticed when i turn the key on and it primes gas comes out og the tube that goes to the air box between 3 and 4 while the stem at 1 and 2 is clear. i pulled the plug on the fuel pump and started the bike and there was no excess gas spitting out of and 3 and 4 and the bike ran way better. if you have any ideas of what could be causing this let me know.. if you need more info just ask ..... petcock? carbs?
i have the same bike and someone had fucked up two of the pilot jets, and two cylinders would flood just the same. Just check the size of the bottom hole on the pilot, make sure its right.
so thats what i should do is rebuild the carbs right? this is my first bike and i dont know much about carbs but i do know mechanics pretty well i just never worked on carbs do u think i can do it my self any advice/
if its just the pilots you dont need to reuild. just pull carbs off, take off bottom cover plate, unscrew pilots jets, install new pilot jets, reinstall. most bike stores will carry them. some will even trade jets.

a too large pilot jet won't make it overflow, just fowl plugs....a stuck float will send fuel out the overflow tubes
