Yoshimura GSXR 1340 project bike finally finished !

Hey Guys ,
Well it's took some time but i got there in the end !
Finished the build of the bike on Thursday night just in time for the photoshoot for Streetfighters Magazine on Friday (yesterday )

I took this one on my camera phone whilst I was there

They wanted the bike for their 200th anniversary edition which is due out in September . I'll have to wait for a copy of the studio pics so today i took some of my own.

It come out exactly as I wanted it to and im really pleased with the result.
Whilst I realise that it's not going to be to everyone taste (and that's cool) I hope that you can appreciate the effort that's gone into it. Anyway I hope you like it -there's loads more pics in my photobucket album here > http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/d...20July%202010/

Please have a look around and feel free to post up your faves in this thread

The first few pics in the album show the steel slingshot tank , the rest are all with the alloy 750RK tank.

Lee

Re: Yoshimura GSXR 1340 project bike finally finished !

It turned out awesome. It kind of reminds me of a blend of fighter and dragbike, with the extended arm. I like it . I picked the other tank, but I like that on better now that I see it on the bike now. Great work.

Now its time to sit back and revel in the glory for a while !lol , Seriously though , i literally haven't even had time to fire it up properly , let alone take it for a ride -and thats what i'm most looking forward to.

Talking of glory - i want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me . The text below is what i wrote on the spec sheet for the mag feature - i'm really hoping that they dont cut it down -but just in case here it is in its unedited format >

"Thanks To -
Of course my family first, but any build that takes nearly 5 years and involves the almost solitary use of mates & favours instead of a chequebook and a shop will inevitably incur a long roll call of folk who genuinely deserve a mention. I'm not gonna advertise for the (very few) places where Iíve bought stuff at full whack - they've already had my money. What Iím on about is all the parts that have been expertly machined / fabricated / welded etc in peoples own time (read - foreigners ! ) at the risk of getting the sack or at least a hefty bollocking from the foreman, Sometimes at heavily discounted rates but more often for nothing more that a thank you. Sure Ė Iíve created the design and done the drawings etc and usually supplied the materials too , but this build wouldnít have been possible without the brains , skills and time of these guys , and Iím lucky to have all of them as my friends. So, would the following please take a bow. Keith Farley for the paint and build idea's. Jon Davies for turning and milling and all sorts of help and support. Matt & Peter Shaw of Shaw Engineering for the swing arm extensions, rear set adaptors plus steering stem & Tank Mods. Wayne Morris for a multitude of CNC milling work, Paul Price for stacks of fabrication and specialist welding, Clive Banks & Phil Gaskin for alloy welding the jobs too big to sneak into work !, Tony Taylor at SPA Design for tech help, Stewart Bramham my electrical wizard and all round good guy, Tommy Sawyer for sourcing and shipping trick parts from the 'states. Roger Upperton for the engine tuning and component advice. Paul Bowes at Central Wheel Services for the powder coating , 'Bill the foreman' at E.V. Woods for the anodising. All the guys in the Oil Cooled sections of Oldskoolsuzuki.info and Gixxer.com for their support , ideas and parts sourcing."

Re: Yoshimura GSXR 1340 project bike finally finished !

I've never really been into the streetfighter thing, but your bike is absolutely amazing Lee. The extreme level of detail and use of desireable period parts or period inspired parts, for me is what makes it so special.

I think your commentary in the dedication explains why it is so great, bikes like yours are built from passion.

P.S. I love it all, but my favourite bit is the headlight unit, it looks like some crazy wide eyed guy looking out from his helmet down the road. Can't wait to see a youtube of it running.. nudge nudge wink wink...

I am not a fan of the whole street fighter theme, style, etc. But I do appreciate the type of work and effort it takes to pull off a project like this. Congrats on getting it done and published!

Got love it! Thats all you can do regardless of the streetfighter thing. I'll take that girl and bang her brains out! Lovely couple you got there Lee. Oh I like the whole bike some different and unique for sure. The gauges are awesome and the motor has some nice eye candy as well.
