Lightbulb 2002 gsxr 1000 engine question.....

Hello all i just bought a 2002 gsxr 1000 and it needs a engine i was wondering what gsxr 1000 engines will fit in this bike bolt in and go What Years? Also how much do they go for complete in good shape and not many miles?

01-04 will bolt straight in. But the 03/04 wiring may be different (generator). Not 100% sure on the wiring.

Not looking to buy swap kits just something to bolt in what engine is better 01-04? thanks.. 1 year has less problems or more horsepower?

I'd go with the 05/06 1000 which would require a swap kit.

They're pretty much the same. The cams maybe different. The 03-04 had a bit more HP but that may have something to do with the later electronics and fueling. Again, not 100% on that.

Don't forget the crankrotor.......that's different on the newer models....

Yeah i have the stock engine but was told it made a ticken noise when given throttle so the head is off and its off the bike should i just get this engine rebuilt save money? The engine was off when i bought the bike.

depends on how much its gonna cost you to rebuild....i found an 02 1k engine on ebay for $800 very low miles and the guy was right up the road from me, so you can get lucky and find another engine for cheaper, just gotta be patient sometimes...

i have a motor from a 02/ 5kmi bike that was in a front end wreck, runs purfect, would bolt right in no-problems, slop it in/ and go, $700, cant beat that deal, located in long island, gimme a call 516-236-5425
