question about swingarm swap

i have a 97 750 srad that i purchased that went down. the swing arm got bent a little and a buddie had a 2000 750 swingarm he gave to me to see if it will fit. i believe all this will be no problem but the length if i am not wrong. i think it is like an inch shorter than mine but i was wanting to make sure all i will have to do is shorten the chain length and put it back together. also i will be doing some body work and paint and will be taking pics and when completed i will post start and finsish. oh yeh and one more thing i need to get my red r and thanks all for the help in other threads and this one in advance.

Re: question about swingarm swap

Someone in here put a 2004 swinger on their SRAD frame, with NO modifications needed.

Don't see why it wouldn't. May as well try since it is coming from a buddy anyways.

Re: question about swingarm swap

you will have to cut the master link eventually to shorten the chain, you can take off the front sprocket to take the chain off without cutting it while on the bike, then you can put it in a vise to have it under more control. all you have to do to shorten the chain is grind down the pins in the links and punch the out with a pin punch. you will have to buy a new master link regardless of what you do to it. If you dont mind spending a little $, bout $150, you can get a new chain and sprockets and have a little piece of mind in having new parts rather than someone else's parts.

Re: question about swingarm swap

chain and sprockets are like new as they have been on this bike and ridden very little before it went down. so i think i am going to do this myself doesnt appear to be that difficult. i am not stupid just have never attempted this and was unsure of myself as i dont want it coming apart. lol . thanks for all the insight and i will be taking a few pics of complete progress and posting over the next few weeks maybe a month depending on how time and work go. thanks again

Re: question about swingarm swap

i would say three colors, all basf r-m carizzma custom, copper, blue and silver. oh wait i have those colors because i bought them for my bike and decided not to finish it when i closed my body shop. they really are great colors, 2 pints n total cost me almost 300 bucks shop price. i ojly have the base, you would need the rest of the chemicals pm me if ya want em,
