I love the look of this bike and have been wanting one for ages.
First of all from the pictures and the information do you think it would be a good buy for around £2000, and a good first time bike?
Buy the 99. The second one has like 34k miles which is slightly high for a bike especially a street bike. Granted if it's taken care of properly it will last. I like the 99 better though.
Any SRAD will last a long time if you keep up on the issues. Fix the R/R plug, CCT and just keep an eye on things like you need to do with any older bike/car.
If you maintain the bike, you will see a TON of miles on it. I have over 65K on mine and the only real problems I have where caused by me.
Oh yea, and I can honestly say that I ride harder then 98% (maybe more) of the other members on this site. I have beat the crap out of my SRAD and she loves it. Not too many people cause say they ride there bike on the track at an average of 300 miles a day. Pushing the bike hard almost every lap. Some events where back to back days (2 and sometimes 3 days in a row) in weather from freezing temps to well into the 115*F air temps of the Nevada deserts (and any track rider know that this comes out to the area of 120-125* on the blacktop).
These bikes will take a huge beating when treated right and kept up on. I am first hand proof.
John

I would probably kill someone to get a brand new SRAD with 0 miles. I'm not just talking engine, but the entire bike 100% new.
I'm just asking John out of Curiosity have you ever gone down on your SRAD before? 65k miles without ever having an accident is something someone can be proud of.

Hopefully it will be here later this week or beginning of next (just the engine)
i like the 98 one more but 34k miles is just way too high. definitely get the 99 if you can afford it, it looks like it's in very good shape. i bough my beat up 2000 with 18k miles for $2050, but now the more problems i solve, the less i have so over all i love my bike.
the 600 will definitely make a good beginner bike. mine had the front sprocket lowered by a tooth and a full yoshimora exhaust, it feels a bit too aggressive so i might put a stock sprocket in the front and put the rear one a couple teeth bigger.
This was my bike exactly (before customizing) when i bought it two years ago for 2500 canadian, never regreted the buy. Im not sure what the conversion is exactly but it seems like a good deal. BEWARE my girlfriend a year and a half ago was burned for 2400 canadian on a bike quite similar, im not saying this gonna happen to you but dont complete any transaction outside of paypal or your ebay account.
