Tips on painting 2 tone
I'm posting this here cuz I need a faster response...
I'm painting my tail section. Top half is black, lower half is silver. I layed the black down, just waiting a few more hours before I spray the silver.
I bought some automotive masking tape to tape the line with, but I'm worried about pulling the black up with it. Should I spray clear over the black before taping it off, and then sand the overspray of clear where the silver will go? Or should the black not pull up with the tape?
I'm using PPG paint btw.

is it urethane basecoat? should be perfectly fine to tape on. It probably wouldn't hurt to do a test on something but honestly i think you will be fine, i have taped directly onto HOK urethane basecoats with no problems.
Just to add to that. The black isn't a pearl is it? if its just a solid black then fine, if it has a pearl or metalic in it, then definately clear it.
