So im looking at getting my insurance, but im not sure what type of coverage I should get when it comes to bodily injury, property damage, BI Uninsured / Underinsured, and PD Uninsured / Underinsured.
Can anyone help me out? I'd like to move on this shortly, so that im ready for the first break of spring!
What I usually do is get quotes for the varying amounts of coverage and base my decision on that. Often times, a lot more coverage is available for like 50 cents more a month.
It's all a game of chance in the end I suppose, don't go crashing into a lamborghini stuffed with 4 people who all get injured because you hit them after driving through a house full of people and you can keep your coverage low. It's all a matter of how much risk you want to take. Medical bills can leave you in the poor house easily, and they are very common with motorcycle crashes. Especially ones where you get run over at a stop light in a hit and run, and the only person who stops is someone who honks at you for blocking traffic and then goes around and the person in front of you who checks their bumper and then drives off....not that something exactly like that has happened to me....

I called about 10 places. Quotes ranged from $600-3200. Allstate was the cheapest for me. Full coverage, fire, thieft (state minimums) I'm 25 and have been riding for less then a year. 2008 gsxr600.
Jersey? Try Rider Insurance, I use them and they are so much cheaper than the next guy it's pathetic. I'm talking $1000 a year cheaper. (For me anyway)
They do not like tickets though, you have to have a pretty clean record.

Rider BLOWS COCK!! State Farm is by far the cheapest place in NJ. Rider was getting the following from me:
RC51 = $1300
GSXR600 = $600ish x 2 (since I have 2)
SV650 = $450ish
Moved them all over to SF and the total bill was less than the what I was paying Rider for the RC51.
State Farm is definitely the cheapest in Jersey but your record has to be squeaky clean to get in there, AND the people you live with need squeaky clean records, even if they have their own insurance...
