2000gsxr 600 SRAD idle's high

hey all i just picked up a 00 gsxr6 when I start the bike it idles at 4500 or so ... after a while it will fall off to 1200 or so but its after the bike gets to temp... I pulled the tank off to check the carbs and there are two solenoid valves on the bottom of the carbs they did not have the electrical plugs connected to them . now I have not had time to try the bike yet.... but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems
any ideas would help
thanks

When the bike is rejetted, the solenoids usually get unplugged.

The high idle is common of a pilot jet that is too lean. That is why once warm, it drops down (the mixture levels out once the bike warms up).

If the bike is warm and it runs good, I would not worry too much about.

When the bike is cold, what happens if you pull the choke on a bit?

the choke really has no effect until the last little bit . i can ge the bike to idle fine after it arms up but if i give it any throttle the rmp will hang for 20 -30 seconds. its almost as if there is a vacuum leak somewhere but i have yet to find one
thanks for the help

Why would they do that?

says it in the directions that come with the jet kit, prolly has something to do with not regulating the air/fuel flow - which would render the jet kit pointless this is my ass talking

I'm just curious. This is my first transition from one carb to four, so I'm full of questions.

Sounds like a overly lean pilot circuit to me. Try turn out the fuel screw a turn and see if it is better.

Re: 2000gsxr 600 SRAD idle's high

it was a couple problems the main vacuum line was cracked and leaking making it idle high and the idle hanging was because the carbs were out of sync
