Valve Shim Size

I have a K6 600 and an extra K6 750 engine. I want to check the valves before this coming season.

After looking around it appears that the 600 takes 7.48mm shims - is this correct?

I haven't been able to find any size information on the 750 shims. Does anyone know what it takes?

TIA!

Re: Valve Shim Size

Search "service manual" download it for the 750 and check to see what it is.

Re: Valve Shim Size

I have both service manuals, thank you. They both reference "TAPPET SHIM SET (12800-05830)", but don't specify the size of the shims.

Refer to the tappet shim selection table (2-10 and -11) for details.

Re: Valve Shim Size

Yes, those would be the ones. All the Suzuki bucket-over-shim engines take the same diameter shims as far as I know. But you need to open it to find out which thicknesses you need anyway Or are you looking to buy a complete shim kit? Just get a Suzuki one

Re: Valve Shim Size

I guess I wasn't asking the question correctly. The tables show the shim thickness; I want to know their diameter.

Thank you. Just to make sure, those are 7.48mm (7.5mm) diameter shims?

I'll get a kit (probably not the Suzuki kit - mucho expensive) because I have a Yamaha that also uses 7.48mm shims. I've seen Hot Cams kits on eBay for $64 that should suit me fine.

Found this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT).
This is in the ad: "Includes three 7.48 MM o.d. shims in each size from 1.20 mm to 3.50 mm in .05mm increments".
Where'd you find it for $64 ?
