After a day of polishing and waxing I decided to take her out for a little ride. I hit the usual stomping grounds and before I know it I am well over the speed limit. At the last possible second I notice a cop to my right as his lights fill my mirrors. I get the usual treatment, license and insurance please. He returns only to give me a warning and thanks me for wearing my gear! His exact words were "now if only the harley riders had a little more imagination, we wouldn't be scraping them off the pavement". It turns out he owns a CBR and happily tickets squids (he actually said squids) for even the simplest of violations. I guess theres another reason to wear our gear!
Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
Cops like that are out there. And we are a squid's worst nightmare. They can't even say it's because we hate bikes like any of the other cops that'd bust their balls.

Yeah i got an overwelhming feelin of relief one morning on the way to work last month, 6am down a nice double lane road just upgraded with a fresh coating of hot mix and "BANG" there was a copper nailing me with a laser, He was beside his bike and standing behind a pole........I shit myself, Luck had finally ran out ?
Looked at him ....he looked at me and continued checking the traffic behind me which i had just blasted by 10 sec's earlier, He didn't even flinch.....

Liar!
Admit it, you are only bashing a rider because he is on a Harley and not on a GIXXER.. Am I right? come on, you can admit it. Don't be afraid, the truth will set you free. More people will respect you for telling the truth. You don't have to lie to get people to like you. Come on, admit you are a liar.

It could also be that so many sportbikes run from cops and put them in danger they do not even bother. (this is more true with cops in cars than on bikes)
I have a friend that got pulled over. the cop told him "because you did not run im going to let you go" I think for the most part, if your geared up, and respectful, have your M1 and insurance the cop will most likely be really lenient.
Met up with MotoJoe and Toejam and came home Butthurt and with a Purple Nurple - no srsly... Has a Carpet Fetish.

Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
I got pulled over and i was going 80 in a 60. A state trooper motorcycle cop pulled me and my brother over. We got to talking and I knew him from a wreck that he was the officer that responded. I was wearing gear and so was my brother. we didn't run and we treated the cop with respect. He let us look over the bike some and finally said, "Normally I'd give you a ticket but since you were nice, you pulled over, and had gear that I'm only giving you a warning. Next time, slow down."]
A lot of it boils down to if you are safe (gear, nothing extremely reckless) and are courteous to the cop. He/she may just give you a warning.
Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
Liar? Bashing Harley riders? I'm simply stating that overall we are seen as young organ donors with absolutely no imagination. Cagers always become anxious and give us extra room because of that stereotype and cops are no different. However, by wearing your gear you are not only contributing to the ultimate demise of this stereotype, saving a few thousand dollars in hospital bills but also it might get you out of a ticket! I'm not basing anyone, well maybe squids.

Good to know he is doing his job out there. Squids should be harshly ticketed.

WTF is he lying about and how he is bashing Harley riders?
If I remember correctly, they are the ones who had problems with us first.
Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
I got pulled over on my '01 after acting like an idiot on the highway with my buddy on his R1 a few years ago. I was geared up and had my plate and signals in the factory spots and didn't run (my friend did run and I acted like I didn't know him). He said he was going to impound me and write me up for wreckless op and he ended up letting me off with a hundred some dollar ticket.
Wearing gear saves you in more ways than one.
Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
Same idea:
A few yrs ago, I was running late to the base of our twisty run up northern Ontario in cottage country. It was 730 am Sunday am, and I was blitzing along at 100 mph hoping to catch up with the group I missed meetingback in Toronto. As I rounded a bend at 100 mph, a cop came round the bend, and even though I was looking at the road ahead, I heard his tires lock up. I finished my bend, then pulled over and waited for the cruiser I knew was coming. He pulled up behind me and got out, asking for my paperwork. He went back to his car. He then came back and said he got me at more than double the speed limit at 163 in an 80 zone (KMH). He asked my hurry. I was honest and told him I missed the group at the meet spot and was hurrying to catch them. He told me he feels like running riders over who run from him, and thanked me for pulling over. Let me go with a warning. Even gave me a business card, and said if I get pulled over by any other cops, just show them his card and tell them I already spoke to him. I dunno if that's a get-outta-jail-free-card or what, but with Ontario's current ligislation, they could impound my bike for a week on the spot, and suspend my licence too.....even before I get to have my say in court. Cool cop. I could see in his eyes, he wished he was me, that Sunday morning, riding the twisties, instead of being at work.
Re: Got pulled over tonight (an interesting story)
I totally can believe this. I was once pulled over for going 167 mph in a 55 mph (Baltimore 695 beltway) and this was in an Evo VIII (not a bike). The state trooper who pulled me over (screaming at the very top of his lungs) asked me if I thought if it was normal to travel over 100mph on the beltway, and I responded "no". He told me he never wanted to see my car on 'his' beltway again or he'd arrest me, and told me to get lost, and poof I was gone! No paperwork, no nothing. I was thought for SURE I was going to jail that night... Lol sometimes you get lucky.
