tl1000r vs gsxr 1000

If we had a tl 1000r and a gsxr 1000 both the same model, which bike is quicker. What is the difference between the engines. I know the tl 1000 has a v twin engine but dont really know much about them. How is the gsxr engine different performance wise.

Re: tl1000r vs gsxr 1000

In general, the GSX-R will be lighter and have more horsepower, but the TL will have more torque.

The TL can be pretty fast, but I don't think it stands much chance against any of the newer gixxers, considering similarly skilled riders. The TL hasn't changed in almost a decade now, where the gixxer has been updated every 2-3 years since.

Re: tl1000r vs gsxr 1000

Very different bikes. The TLR is a late 90s design while the first GSX-R1000 came in '01. When it came, the TLR had horsepower comparable to the GSX-R750 of the same time, albeit with somewhat more torque. On the other hand it was considerably heavier than the 750 and even compared to the first 1000, it's "slow".

That being said, it's not a bad bike. It's good for everyday use and some touring as the riding position is rather comfortable and the wide torque curve makes for some relaxed riding And don't forget, as soon as the road starts turning, it's not necessarily a question of having the most power

Rest in Peace, Grizz and Robs - miss you my Friends.

Re: tl1000r vs gsxr 1000

SV1000 is the later version of the TL and a much nicer bike - that being said - a GSXR600 will still rock a SV1000's world....let alone a 750 or a 1000...(equal riders of course)
