How to get oil off of tires?

I had an oil spill in my garage and I have oil on the tires of my 1K. What would be the best way to get it off? I was gonna use brake cleaner but I dont know if that will damage the rubber.

Thanks,
Frankie

Re: How to get oil off of tires?

Brake cleaner is good. The Dunlop race tire vendor for our region explicitly recommend brake cleaner for removing brake fluid from his tire. This racer had a spill and brake fluid soaked a significant area of his tire.

I have used the Klean-Strip Prep-all wax and grease remover:

http://www.wmbarr.com/product.aspx?catid=83&prodid=150

You can also get it in a 1qt can from Wal Mart. I primarily use it on new street tires to remove the mold release compound from the surface of the new tire. It seems to slightly dissolve the outer surface of the rubber, which I think might be necessary for rubber soaked in oil. I have used it for oil clean-up on a tire as well.

EDIT: Dude... anything ever happen with Sprocket Specialists? I was dying to get that thing into the lab!
