Re: Oil Filler Cap Temp Gauge

ive seen these but not convinced - surely it can only tell you the temperature of the case that is screwed into - not the actual temperature of the oil - it would have to have a probe in the oil to tell oil temp? and that would mean something dangling down infront of the clutch wich is bad as it spins round? either way it wont be very acurate - if you got the sun glaring on the case its gonna heat the temp of the thermo up anyway - even if the oil is stone cold?

my mate has one on his xr650 they do have a probe on the back and it only registers temp from the tip of the probe so sunlight should not affect it and the length of the probe is such that it will not foul anything

i'm just about to order a couple one for my xt633 and one for the gsxr so by next weekend i'll be able to give a review

Re: Oil Filler Cap Temp Gauge

its still not actual oil temp then - just a reading from the inside of the motor - the best ones are the ones that have the probe screw in to the sump i dont think youll get an acurate reading from the filler cap

dont know about the gsxr 1 yet regards acuracy but the 1 for the xt should be pretty acurate as oil flows over the tip of the dipstick on the oe filler cap

Bringing this back from the dead...

Was the accuracy for this one good enough? I was thinking of getting one...
