blown main fuse

the bike has blown the main fuse, 3 times now, at or near redline. i have checked for any obvious wire damage,or loose conections with no luck. ...note:recently installed (hardwired to the battery) a radar device. the install appears flawless.....HELP!

Re: blown main fuse

Sounds like you have a short someplace. Check the yellow plug under the left ram air tube. I had a few wire rub bare on that guy.

Other then that, just start tracing for a short.

Re: blown main fuse

check for wires that got rubbed bare where you routed your radar detector wires at...maybe when routing the radar detector wires you moved a harness over some and it got pinched

Re: blown main fuse

Did it start doing this after the install of the radar device?

Re: blown main fuse

I just went through this. The easiest way was to put a new fuse in and start the bike. Once the bikes running, start wiggling wires until it blows.

Mine tuned out to be a couple of wires that go to the gauges that were rubbing on the fairing stay.
