I bought my race bike with 5k on it, put 22k on it one season (before it was race trim). That was 4 yrs ago, still on stock motor - no repair work, making 100ish on a dyno.

I'd guess it probably has 35k on it.

You want to check and adjust the valve clearances every 15k, or maybe every other season - probably a bit more often on a 96.

The motors are tough as nails, and you can almost always get a salvage spare.

Re: usage of a gsxr

If you take care of your gixxer by doing fluid and filter changes, run clean gas, do the valves, plugs and air filter they will run for a long time.

There are guys at the track who have over 25000 miles on their gixxer and many of them are hard track day miles.

It really comes down to how you take care of it.

I had about 40,000 mi on my 01' before I sold it for the K6. It pulled duel duty as my only transpo and race bike. It was still running strong.
