electrical issue

About a week ago I took my bike to work in the morning I shoved my lunch in under the passenger seat trunk area. Then my god damn drink exploded in the back it didnt seem to get into much just dripped onto my rear tire. Until my speedo and tach went out then today everything went dead and the bike died. Sometimes the bike turns on sometimes its doesnt. Where do i start?

Re: electrical issue

take the left rear fairing off, and the seat, unplug everything, and start cleaning! the ECU, some relays, a fuse, and the rectifier are back there.

Re: electrical issue

Alright i took off my left rear plastic to get at the electrical and one of the wire harnesses has a spot that is completely melted. it is on a red wire i put an new connector on in it and respliced it. could not do much after that cuz the battery is dead. None of the electrical seemed to be touched by the drink either. also the 10 amp fuse that was labled rear was blown too.
