problem starting 99 gsxr 750

Hey so I have a gsxr 750 99 (love it) and had a few issues. i just had the bike repaired i laid it down a while ago and needed a new stator and stator cover they said they had to change one of the wiring harnesses (not sure which). MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT MY BIKE WONT START EVEN WITH THE ENGINE SWITCH TURNED ON AND THE CHOKE ALL THE WAY DOWN, ONLY AFTER PRAYING AND PRESSING THE STARTER BUTTON A MILLION TIMES WILL IT TURN ON. IT TURNS ON RANDOMLY SOMETIMES RIGHT AWAY AND OTHER TIMES AFTER I PRESS IT MANY TIMES, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

- SMALL PROBLEMS I NEED HELP WITH since i got the bike the horn hasnt worked i wonder how i can fix that if its a simple fuse or something more complicated. the second thing i wanted to fix is the light for the speedometer which is out. the third thing i wasnt sure about is the braking, when i brake using the front brakes i can kinda feel like a steady shaking when i brake from a high speed.

Re: problem starting 99 gsxr 750

is it a problem with the spark plugs or battery, the bike wont crank at all it will start to though all of a sudden after like 10 or 15 minutes of trying to press the starter button

lol nothing like posting to yourself lol

sounds like you have a bad starter.

also - check to make sure your clutch switch is operating right.

Mine was doing that a while ago...left me stranded at a bar at 2am. So I walked home (looooong) way extremely pissed. Took it to a friend and $200 later...never had the problem again.

make sure your spark plugs are seated properly and in the correct numbered slots....you may be miss firing.

? 1. Does the bike crank at all?

If no crank, check clutch switch, kickstand switch, and engine switch. Bad contact on any of the 3 can prevent bike from cranking.

If it cranks but no start, check plugs & fuel delivery

Re: problem starting 99 gsxr 750

This may be simple and it may be common knowledge, but have you been giving it some gas?

I bought a used (and layed down) '98 750 and the guy I got it from said it didn't like to start. The shop I took it to said the same thing after I had new tires/chain/sprockets put on. It would eventually start, but it would drain the battery half way every time.

Now I just give it a quick twist (still need the choke on if its under ~115deg) while hitting the starter and it comes on pretty quickly (3-10 starter clicks).

Hope that helps.

Startor: Check the Coil wires, Plugs and Fuel make sure all are working good.

Horn: If its dead, an aftermarket one is like $20 and can connect to the old switch

Light: Need to pull the cluster out, and take the back off. Twist the light holder for the desirerd light and it comes out slick.

Breaking Issue: Sounds like a warped router, just a guess though.

Sorry for the quick response, but at work and prolly shouldn't even be on the site
