I'd like to paint some portions of my suit white. I've looked around on the net and found out how to paint leather that hasn't been painted before (water based acrylics designed for use on leather), but couldn't find anything regarding painting leather thats already painted/dyed. Does anyone know how to paint a leather suit without damaging it and retaining it's protective properties (water resistance, strength/durability, etc.)?

Re: Painting leather suit?
On the OSR.com site (Ontario Sportbike Riders) there is a guy named caboose who had a great system he bought. Prep, paint and sealer. I will try to find it for you. He posted a long how to thread with pictures. I did the white on my alpinestar gloves with black acrylic paint and a brush. I got it from Michael's craft store for 5 bucks. But I don't know how durable it is. I also want to tone down the white on my one piece suit.
I just painted some Frank Thomas boots I have. They were Kawi Green but I painted them black w/ a rattle can. I taped off all the areas I wanted to keep & cleaned the rest w/ alcohol real good.
I gave them 2 good coats & let dry for about a week B-4 I put them on. Went for a ride the other day & they worked great w/no signs of wear on left boot.
I'm going to ride the mountains in Georgia this weekend, I'll let you know how they hold up.
