yup...really sux...I was on my way home from work tuesday and I'm taking this industrial park road (flanders rd. in westboro if anyone is familiar) to rt 9...well at the wide open super long staightaway I don't see any cars around at all so I decide I'm gonna bouce a standup in second gear...I bouce one up but it didn't get too high and came back down...so this time I bouce a bit more and give more gas (I never use my clutch...so for those that say you can't get a 600 up in 2nd without clutch I say ) well I hit the balance point for a glorious moment or two and am staring at the nose of my bike but for some reason I didn't ease up on the throttle enough and just went right past the b.p. and next thing I know, I'm tumbling violently down the road...there was one witness that saw me tumbling...she was at a hotel on flanders rd. ...she happened to be an emt...she said I rolled 4 times...I couldn't remember for the life of me how many times I rolled but as soon as I stopped, I got right up and started walking around...I took off my helmet and looked down and see my shredded socks, sneakers ripped right off...thank god I wear my leather jacket and gloves 99% of the time I ride...that shit saved my ass...my knees were a bit scraped up along with my toes and ass...at this point I don't feel shit but the emt lady is freaking out and tells me to lay down...she checks me out and finds no visibly broken bones but is worried that i may have some fractures or a spinal injury...the amulance shows up and at this point the only things bothering me are my left wrist, right shoulder, and right leg/ankle...they take me to Umass worcester and i'm in the ER for about 7 - 8 hours...they did a bunch of x-rays, no fractures...anyhow, they splint my left wrist, give me a Rx for some vicadins and send me on my way...I'm hoppin around on my left leg cause my right leg is so sore, I can't put any weight on it...my right shoulder is stiff and sore (just enough mobility to type this out with my right hand...my left hand is junk right now in this splint)...I consider myself very lucky right now...things could have been waaaay worse but with all my stupidity, I'm just glad that I was at least smart enough to wear my leathers and not be doin this shit in the middle of traffic...If I was in traffic I could have been run over or worse, I could have hurt someone else...so please people, be safe, wear your gear (it's the difference between gettin up and walkin away/short visit to emergency room OR extended stay in the hospital + much pain)...another mistake I made was not covering my back brake, so if you're doin wheelies - cover you brake!!! ...I just called the Police to find out about gettin my bike and I was worried that they're gonna try and charge me with somethin but they didn't say anything...just gave me the # to the towing place...I called them up, they said the bike looks good considering it slid 450 ft. ...it's only messed up on the left side...the left side was already scratched up from when I dropped it last year...so once again, things could have been alot worse...I didn't tell my family any details...just that I lost control of the bike so I had to get this off my chest here on gixxer.com...I'm definitely steppin it down a couple of notches...I'll stick to my 1st gear popcorn wheelies and my stoppies...that's good enough for me...it's just not worth gettin fucked up over this shit...but I'll be back on the saddle for sure
thanks Taz...you're always willing to give help to fellow riders...you're a good man...when I get my bike home tomorrow, I'll know better what needs to be fixed
No way! That sucks Vic. I haven't crashed a street bike yet but have shaken hands with trees and earth a few time on dirtbikes.
I am thinking if you were in 2nd lifting the front wheel...your speed was around 70ish and accellerating!? That said sounds like you made out pretty good during the crash; however it still hurts like hell I bet.
Damn Vic, sorry to hear about your fall. I feel kinda bad cause I told you how to do those 2nd gear bounce wheelies... hope i didn't teach you the wrong way so you did somethin wrong. I'm even starting to get a little nervous about bouncing in 2nd, cause with a 600 your going atleat 65 mph. I really need to learn to pop the clutch so im starting at a slower speed. But its good to know you had your leather on, last time i drove by you on 495 you were in a t-shirt, first time i have seen you w/o your jacket. But rest up bro, hopefull you can get back out there soon, and I'm glad to hear your alright. If you need anything let me know since im a town or 2 over.

don't feel bad Rick...I would've been doin em whether you showed me or someone else did...you didn't show me wrong...what you said was right...I was startin to get them down...rode out a few nice ones but I was only gettin close to b.p. maybe 1 outta every 10 tries...I just got over zealous and cocked my wrist too much and didn't ease up enough...one thing I know is I didn't cover my rear brake...make sure that you do when you're doin 2nd or 3rd gear wheelies...1st gear you don't have to worry about it but anything above that...and about you seein me on 495 with just a t-shirt on...that was part of the 1% of the time that I didn't have my jacket on...very rare for me...figures about 20 minutes after that someone takes a f'ng left right in front of me...almost t-boned em...locked my front up twice in about a second...scared the shit outta me...gotta stay wearin the leathers...saved my ass both times I fell in the last year...the little rash that I have on my lower half (knees, ass, ankles, toes) is pain enough for me
that sucks dude... sorry to hear, but glad as shit that you are alright. I think you've convinced me to wear my jacket more often. Im just gettin the hang of my 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I do mean wow. Hey Victor Im glad your ok. Very sorry to hear bout your accident. Im sure we all learned from our mistakes of going down. I for sure learned from my two down falls. Sunday and Monday is looking kinda good for weather wise. Im suppose to be rolling with the RI RYDERS on Sunday maybe monday I'll come up to your mothers after work and pay ya a visit. Im off work today, on the Cape chillin like a villian pm me your number at home again and I'll give you a shout out. Im going to start looking into a leather for wearing. I do admit they will save you either all or some road rash, that depends on how long you slide. But either way well worth it. Get well soon my friend and I'll see you sooner.
I don't know any of you guys personally, but I would like to say that I am glad you're ok also. I did the same thing (except first gear) 2 Sundays ago. It's amazing how fast that happens. My bike didn't fare as well as yours did because it hit a curb. I'm already half done buying parts for it. Anyway good luck getting the bike fixed and getting back to riding. I know I can't wait and this time I'll be wiser.
just got the bike back and although there is no damage on the right side it's still pretty wrecked...not sure if I can or should try and claim it on the insurance...subframe is bent, frame has a dent, tank has scratches and small dent from bar end, front cowling cracked, left fairing + front blinker wrecked, tail piece all cracked, taillight gone, rearset bent, case cover all grinded up, left mirror broken...that's all I can think of (not looking at the bike right now)...i'll try to get a pic up in the next few days...I'm in a tough spot here but it's my own fault...you play, you pay...one of the ladies at the ER said "you know, you young kids just think you're invincible" and she's absolutely right...I never expected this shit and it hit me hard...and I made out far better than I should have...be careful peeps...I'm no gear nazi (do what you wanna, wear what you wanna) but my gear saved me from an extended stay in the hospital and lots of pain...If you're practicin new tricks or ones you're not totally comfortable with yet, do it somwhere secluded so you can only hurt yourself...don't wanna preach but this shit is just on my mind...
If your main frame is bent of dented along with the subframe, alot of times the insurance company will total the bike. It sounds like based on the amount of damage, you will be close. It comes down to your insurance premiums and how much you owe on the bike. I am still available to help you put it back together if you need it. I have seen most of that stuff on ebay for pretty reasonable (except the dented frame).
