Should I add fuel injector cleaner/additives to my gas?

Just thinking, is it a good idea to run fuel injector cleaners in my '06 1k every couple of tank fulls..:confused?

Re: Should I add fuel injector cleaner/additives to my gas?

i would not add anything until the mileage is up there. i totalled my 05 with 30k on it. ran just like new. getting the 07 but only because the 05 was totalled. just ride it. and keep the oil changed. maybe later add some fuel additives only if its been sitting. just my 2 cents.

Re: Should I add fuel injector cleaner/additives to my gas?

I use a fuel injector/system cleaner made by PJ1. I treat a tankful about every 1500 to 2000 miles. Not a major change in performance, but throttle response is better and idle is smoother. I think it's a pretty good bang for the buck...basically a "maintence" kinda thing

It made my bike run smoother and added just a tad of throttle response .

FP60 here, nice on my KTM 520, excelent on my Sti, and use it on the K6 for maintenance and here the gasoline is very greasy.

Re: Should I add fuel injector cleaner/additives to my gas?

Bottled Fuel injector cleaner is a waste of time. If you want your injectors totally clean get them taken out and ultrasonically cleaned. Not a lot of people realise but fuel cleaners can actually bung up the injectors. The reason is it breaks up the gunge your fuel filter in your fuel pump would normally strain out and thus allows it to pass through the filter and clog your injectors. It's basic but most people haven't got a clue. This is why many manufacturers don't recommend fuel cleaners, because they usually don't get rid of a problem they just move it elsewhere along the fuel system. Hope this helps.

okay sure. I've ridden many a GSX-R cross country, which anyone that has done it will tell you, it's real easy to get bad gas. after a tank with a little lucas fuel injector cleaner it runs like new. every time. i run some through about every six tanks

Are you guys adding seafoam to your crank case as well?

im a bit skeptical on something that suggests its a fuel injector cleaner and can be used for engine internals...

to me its one or the other, the latter im not convinced about...

Re: Should I add fuel injector cleaner/additives to my gas?

When the price of gas went above $3.00; the stations in the mountains started adding water to their gas. I spit and sputtered home on more than one occasion when I got a tank of bad gas. One time I got kerosene in my gas and it gunked everything up badly. It took about 5 tanks with injector cleaner before the motor came back. But as a preventative measure; I don't use it.

I have used seafoam a time or 2. Seems to work good in all combustion engines.
