clunking

hi all, I have a problem with my 750wx (99)
when I let the clutch out in first gear, I have a reasonably loud CLUNK! coming from either the gear box or the rear wheel, I have never had this on my other bikes, any ideas anyone?

Re: clunking

Clean and lube your chain.. Most of the time it is a kind in the chain and when you start to let the clutch out it will pull the chain tight.

If it is when you put it into gear, check the clutch lever adjustment, you might have to much slack in it.

If you have a lot of miles on the bike, you might have a dented clutch basket causing the clutch to drag a tad...

I wouldnt think it is the cush drive... Unless you see the rear sprocket MOVE when you put it in gear... The cush doesnt normaly go bad over night... If you take the rear wheel off and pull out the sprocket you will know if they are bad casue there will be nothing left of them.
