Bye Bye SRAD\'s

Well I finally got a new bike, it's been awhile and I got a descent deal on a new 03 Yamaha R1, the Black/Red Flame Limited Edition for this year. So far great only got 200 miles on her but she'll be hitting them curves hard soon enough. I still love the bubble tails but couldn't take it anymore it seemed like every other month another farking oil leak would pop up on my 98 750, so after fixing the last one a month and a half ago and not dripping one drop until this week, I just burst and went shopping. I'll put some pics up for everyone soon enough, need to get some time and just take a picture. Bye Bye SRAD

Re: Bye Bye SRAD\'s

Damn, the new R1 is probably the sickest looking new bike on the road, but what made you get it over the new GSXR 1000?

Re: Bye Bye SRAD\'s

Well there was a couple of reasons I didn't get a Gixxer 1000 and chose to get the R1...

1. All my current gear is Red/Black (I know I could have gotten a 02' 1000, but wanted to get new so I was in control of the bikes condition more)

2. I really don't like the front end of the new Gixxer 1000, yes I know it's better for the ram air, but I just can't get past it! It's a sore spot with me, such a nice bike ruined by a headlight.

3. All the Suzuki dealers in the area weren't really willing to lower the price or throw in anything extra, plus I wanted to trade my bike in since it was leaking and wanted to get a good trade in value, Suzuki shops weren't willing to give me sanything, but the Yamaha dealer gave me $4500 for my bike with the leak(which is what I wanted for it if I sold it out right)...my 98' 750 had 15K on it.

Don't worry my friends i'm in love with all motorcycles, so i'm not really switching teams just changing to another bike for a year or 2.

I probably got a bike made at the last hour of the shift on a hot friday afternoon, somebody might have just put the engine together sloppy at the factory but overall it was a great bike, I do miss it, but i'll get over that, I'll be back to the gixxer side again, I'm move of a overall bike lover it doesn't matter to me brand wise just as long as it's a bike and it's smooth through the corners.

You sure that is a 98 gix??? If I remember correct, and I am almost 100% sure, they only had that color on the 99 750, not the 98....

Anyhow... Very nice bikes....

You are very correct it is a 99 Paint Scheme, traded the 98 paint with a friend to get the 99 paint, we both like the opposite paint, but yes my Bike was a true 98, 750 by the vin w/ 99 paint...good eyes

Which damper is that on the gixxer? I had a side mount daytona damper but it stuck out too far.

It's a Toby Adjustable Dampener, worked really really well, I was very happy with it!, it didn't stick out to far personally, the only problem I had with it was I had to adjust the knob at the end, with the handlebars turned full right it would bump it just I just reset the set screw and knob out a little more and didn't have any more problems with it.
