What Now !!

i'm in the same boat as DanUK now, i've sold the gix ,it goes in a couple of weeks, so what do i get now
i fancy a k1 or k2 750 but their a bit thin on the ground, its much easier to get hold of a thou
so i'll have to price up the ins on a thou ,dunno if theres much difference?

sorry to see the srad go

Re: What Now !!

Bike-less as well eh mate

I've just called the insureres (M C Edwards). My 98 750 insurance has only been running 2months so to change over to a 1000 K1 2001 model will cost an additional 200 quid (3pf&t). It MUST be garaged, have thatcham approved immobilisor, datatag and the value can be no more than 5 grand.

A 1000 K1 can be had for just over 5K but the K1 750's are only a couple of hundred quid below that. Seems alot of money for an only slightly newer bike than my old'n.

I'm still looking at another srad at the moment (see my other post). Like mine but not smashed salvage , less miles and in red/black and silver.

I just don't know what i want

Re: What Now !!

well lads i'm bikeless myself a sold the srad 3 weeks ago and i fancied a k 750 , but there a bit steep at £7000 an like hens teeth second hand although the insurance was only another 100 quid , i wouldn't get the use of a 1000 up here as there just to quick for the roads and the insurance would be a killer , i had a look at the cbr 600rr which must be the best lookin 6 out now but kind of dear fir a 6 so i said fuck it and went for the k3 600 which i'm pickin up on monday for £5700 otr, cant fuckin wait as all these faggots on bikes keep passin my window

Re: What Now !!

Guys,

If you want a great deal then I'll be selling my Black and Silver 1000 at the tail end of summer. It's a 2001 model but I believe that Black/Silver is a 2002 colour scheme - could be wrong on that one. Currently has 1900 miles on it and this thing is in brand new condition. I expect to put on a few more miles over the summer and then we'll be getting ready tomove back to the States so I'll sell it before the Autumn.

The price will be right but the important thing to know woul dbe that the bike would have been babied and really taken care of and you wouldn't be buying an unknown quantity.

Nowt, I'm afraid, I'm giving bikes up for a wee while. I'm hoping to take delivery of a Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R in September/October so I need some money freeing up and I haven't hardly looked at my bike this year so it doesn't seem worth keeping it

I guess after 11 years of bikes I fancy a change, but I will be back on 2 wheels one day, but not in the foreseeable future.

was getting the same problem when i tryed.

on the bike front, the Gixxer has been written off so am now in the same boat as a load of people here in trying to decide what to get next.
looking to spend a similar amount to what insurance pays out so top wack will have to be around £3500 i reckon, just can't afford any more than that.
Now all i have to do is pick a bike. tempted to get the same again but think variety is the spice of life and all that and i should probably try soemthing different.
looking round for reasonable example for that cash the toss up is between about a 98 ish blade or a similar aged TL1000R at the moment. really like the looks of the TL but onyl V-twin i've ridden is the firestorm they gave me as a loaner and i hated it.
does anyone know much about the TL's, anything to look out for, are they very thirsty like the firestorm was etc etc

So did you ride the K1 1K then, Just interested to know what you thought of it.

I rode one when I was changing from my 97 750. I thought it was just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to fast for its own good, I like the fact that you can cane the shit out of the 750 through the fast sweepers , cane the shit out of a 1K and you are at warp speed instantly - scary as hell - I was genuinley taken aback with how fast the damm thing was.

Re: What Now !!

jason
too much mate, i would never use that power,i think the turn in on the 750 is quicker ,maybe one day but it wouldnt suit what i want a bike for so i took it back and took a K1 750 out which had pirelli super corsas on, woohoo those mothers are sticky
the 750 was bog standard, i loved the handling, theres a big difference between the usd's and the rwu on the 600 ,the whole suspension felt like quality
it actually felt lighter than my srad ,i dont think it is ,its just better balanced with the weight moved lower down and forward into the frame, so it turns quicker
i was a little disappointed with the performance to be totally honest ,yep it was plenty quick enough but not massively quicker than my 600
but the 750 was stock and my 600 was dynojetted with a race can ,which does make a big difference cos i've rode my mates stock 600 and it felt like a yami diversion

so i'm after a 750 now, not the one i took out, something happened way up the revs in 2nd gear it felt as tho the chain jumped a link or something in the gear box jumped a cog, it only lasted a second and i couldnt get it to do it again but that was enough to put me off it

i rang to get a test ride on another today ,maxton suspension, art race can but the shop said they were selling for a customer and i couldnt test ride it, although i can take anything else i want

dunno , i'll just keep looking..if i dont find anything by august i'll bin it until next year and buy a K4
ps. the 750 is only £100 a year extra on the ins..the 1000 was a blank chq

Re: What Now !!

Don't forget, a K1 750 is about 15kgs lighter than your 600, so itnot only feels lighter, it is, by quite a way, plus the weight has moved to a better place

I know what you mean about 750 suspension vs. 600, my 600 never felt settled at low speeds, whereas the 750 with USD's an better rear shock feels luxurious and more controlled.

The top end pull of the 750 is a whole lot of fun though

thats it mate, you hit the nail on the head , the 600 felt choppy in comparison, too harsh

skyline ....more technology in the boot than the first space shuttle ...respect
