Lubing a new chain?

This may sound overkill, but I put on a new chain and even though its lubed up already, should I spray wax on it to seal everything? I have the Dupont Teflon stuff.

Re: Lubing a new chain?

so it came "prelubed" ?

if so, i would clean it off and re lube it, b/c that might just be a coating on the new chain for it wont rust...

just my 2 cents...

Re: Lubing a new chain?

It comes waxed. Put a coat of lube on there because more is better than less.

Either way its fine. But if you're thinking of lubing your chain you should do it. Its not a matter of weather or not you have to.

Re: Lubing a new chain?

The chain is pre-greased, or lubed, whatever it is..(btw I got the 520 DID ERV3). So should I clean it off and then spray the Dupont Teflon stuff or just spray on top of it?

Yeah clean all that off. It will fling off everywhere. I wish they didn't put that on them.

yeah, throw that bitch in some kerosene before you mount it to get that crap off... It's not that it hurts it, but it'll fling every damn where and make a HUGE mess... The dupont teflon stuff is FANTASTIC by the way... cleans and lubes, flashes to a wax that won't fling, etc...

Re: Lubing a new chain?

I made the mistake of not taking that gooey shit off when I put the new conversion on my bike. That shit got everywhere and I'm still cleaning it off! It almost reminds me of cosmoline, the shit that gun manufacturers goop on weapons when they will be sitting for long periods of time. That shit is messy!!!
