FI light on, non-starting '98 750. Any ideas?

I bought a '98 750 with 10,000 miles on it a couple of weeks ago. The bike's mint, and totally standard, and all was well for 500 miles or so.

Then it cut out on me riding home the other night. The FI warning light is now permanently lit on the tacho and, and although the starter turns, the bike won't start and nor will the fuel injection fire when the key is turned.

I can work out it looks like I've got a fuel injection problem, but can anyone help me with anything more specific? Has anyone else had this problem ? If so what was the solution in your case?

All info much appreciated

Cheers

Have you checked fuses and other stuff like connectors/switches.
There are safety switches in the side stand and clutch lever.

I had the exact same thing happen just as you described. It left me stranded at a local park here for hours because i forgot my allen wrenches back at home and couldnt take off the seat and stuff to inspect, heh.. anyway, called a buddy to bring me some tools and all i did was remove the seat and make sure all connections to the ecu were good and the damn thing fired right up, FI light went out and all. Its never happened again to this day, I'm going to assume it was just a loose connection or something.. Hope thats all thats wrong with yours.

Thanks for the tips - I also found another post from a while back with the same problem.

So far I've got the tacho to display the fault code which is _C41, meaning the fuel pump control system, which is exactly what this other guy's one read. He disconnected the battery for a half hour or so and said this fixed it right off. Mine's off at the moment so here's hoping it works!

Cheers
