Forks vs triple tree 2005-2006 GSXR 1000

Trying to set up my bike to get it to corner a bit better, I have now come to the forks in the triple tree. How many millimeters of the fork should there be "above" the upper triple tree?

The bike is a 2005 GSXR 1000. It is used for track only, and Im using a Sprint steering damper.

Would be great if anyone had some input on this.

I would have a few inches of fork above the tree. This way your bike will be really low and it will look sweet. The ladies love a lowered bike. You'll get mad play son! Mad play!

Explains why mine doesn't corner so well. I can only get an inch and a bit before it hits the fairing/mirror bracket. I suppose I could get rid of the bracket.

Yeah you don't need that man. Mirrors are for losers. Just take those off and cut the bracket so the forks will fit through.

Exactly. Shitcan the mirrors and just get some chrome wheels. You can look down while driving and see the cars in the reflection off teh rims.

damn, no wonder i crashed. my forks don't even come up into the top clamp thingy... i thought they only had to be bolted into the lower one.
