Go with the manual switching setup, much better because you can turn it on and off when ever you want. The auto unit is for a better idle and start up, it is automaticly off when bike is in neutral because the bike idles better with it off and also starts better. I have switched JSDs on my 98 750 and K2 1K. Also once your bike is fuel mapped correctly you dont really need it. I remapped the stock ECMs on both bikes with the TEKA SFI tuner. After mapping I hardly ever turn on the JSDs. Good Luck
