Re: First track day and it was LAGUNA
I'll try and make it short and to the point if I can. The bike is quite well, just a stator cover.
So, I was doing quite well the whole day, until the end. The last 3 sessions I was pushing myself more and more. My only goal was not to be passed, but obviously I was not going to block either. Two sessions before the last I achieved this. The second to last i was passed by a 02ish GSXR750 and I kept pace with him pretty well but he was able to sling-shot out on the straights. <<wrong attitude here>>
So we line up for the last session (I try to be first at the grid so I don't have to fight my way through the pack). I was, I think, 5th to head out. 600RR, R6, the gsxr750, the other cbr600, and myself. Well coming onto the track at turn 3 I could only see Dreze and the R6 in front of me so out of turn four I pulled hard to get passed them both. Well I left myself a large enough cushion not to be sitting right next to them, which inevitably left me in mid-track. Turn 5 is a decent left handed bank turn and going into it on cold tires on the first lap at Xmph was completing F***ing retarded.
I knew it was all down hill from there so that one second I made up my mind to go for it, got on the brakes hard and dropped it a gear. I dug into the turn and as soon as I got over it kept going over until it met the track. As soon as I hit (left side) obviously we started sliding and I noticed my foot/leg was stuck. That was the first task so I managed to get my foot out and tucked in for the ride. The sliding stopped and I hopped up; I gave the thumbs up and picked the bike up (with help). Gas and Oil came squishing out the sides and various other places. The gas isn't an issue, just overflow from the carbs, but the oil came from the stator cover that was ground down in two spots.
All in all, I had a awesome day and this is just a minor set back. New stator cover and she is good to roll. So, INFINEON here I come
