Seeing that ebay has a vast server farm and tons of bandwidth I would be more apt to believe it was a problem with your computer and/or ISP.

I was trying to bid on a slip-on 2 weeks ago, and just as I was about to bid my cable dropped and I could bid.

i think ebay does that on purpose. cause that happened to me when i was bidding on a helmet. its says this page is inactive or something

I have 3 computers at home, so if I'm really on something like a rabid dog, I'll have it open on 1 computer with Internet Explorer, on another one with Mozilla Firefox, and another on my laptop and keep refreshing them just as a failsafe now.

Well you have to picture other people trying to do exactly what you are doing, you also have to imagine that happening with other bids that end at or around the same time. I wouldn't be surprised that Ebay is use to the spike and does nothing about, just because the more bandwidth you have the more people suck it up.
