Shifter Carts.. Anyone have or made one?
Hey all, I'm intreasted in making a shifter cart with a motorcycle engine.. I'm just wondering if anyone has one or ever built one.. I'm wanting to make one that can go off and on road. About the size of the single seat chinese go-karts, but with some nuts!! Anyone know any plot building web sites, or any info about them?
Thanks

Re: Shifter Carts.. Anyone have or made one?
i have a 2001 suzuki gsxr 750 motor(almost complete motorcycle, minus a swing arm and stuff) that i never did anything with. i know it is possible... but what kind of frame would hold said motor? could i get a kart frame and do some fabriating? is this too much for those frames? i remember the old gixxerkart video, but i never saw any ream info on what all he had done to make it work. see now i am thinking. more money will be wasted soon...

that kart had to be going at least 60+ on that turn ramp.. too bad all it would take is a pot hole or uneven pavement to flip it.. still would like to cruise around in one of these..

i think a 750 motor would be too much for anything but some quick fun on the street. do a search on google, im sure they have forums dedicated to shifter karts.

A 750 Motor On A Small Kart Frame Would Be To Much Those Things Run 125 Dirtbike Motor. If You Have Enough Knowledge Build The Frame To Accomodate The Big Motor..my Dad Put A 73 Kz 900 Motor In One A Long Time Ago Built It From Ground Up.. We Used To Run It At Santa Fe Speedway In Chicago Area.. What A Blast. Google Jonh's Kart Shop They Have Alot Of Stuff

Re: Shifter Carts.. Anyone have or made one?
i googled some stuff. the "gixxerkart" appears to be a 125cc kart frame lengthened to fit the 1100. i was looking for a starting point. making and entire from without any idea of dimensions and such does not sound like too great of an idea. and also, because i would most likely use other shifter kart components to finish the job. i do not plan on racing it or anything. just another dangerous toy....

Re: Shifter Carts.. Anyone have or made one?
Actually I was invisioning more around a small sized sand rail with a large displacement 600- 1000cc sportbike engine in it.. A couple people have some buggys with VW engines in them, but they're the larger 4 seater type..
Another idea is to get a strong 4 wheeler chassis and place a descent size engine in it 400cc-600cc and have fun with it.. Since i'm poor and there's not many quads here, I can't just buy a good one, so I was thinking of making one.. For mudding/ trails but not racing.. Anyone have ever made one of these?
