I got a new gas tank to replace my old rusted/keyed(vandalized)/sunfaded/scratched older one. It's brand new, never had gas in it. I've read a lot on this site about the '96 to '99 tanks rusting. Should I go ahead and try to rust proof it with something, or just let oxidation run it's course? And if so, what should I use and how?
Thanks for the help!

take your chances dude, mine rusted after 3 years and i sealed it ,just seems some rust some dont
bang it on and ride
you don't want rust-proofing in your carbs now do you? anyhows, if you keep your tank full, it won't really rust that fast. storage with an empty tank is bad so fill er up b/f storage.
Just sealed mines..had been sitting for a long time, but only had a little rust...enough for the bike to act up very seldom. "If it aint broke...dont fix it," that sounds good to me.
