So my buddy and I are going to NY in less than a month from now, we booked our plane tickets already, we are going to stay in Brooklyn at his sisters house for six days. I can't wait and i'm really excited.
Its my first time out there so just wanted some advice, suggestions and recommendations from people who live and travel in NY. good places to eat and see? bars, clubs, shopping, things to do? learn me NY plz?
Hit the Empire State Building & Statue of Liberty early to avoid the lines. Eat at a good steakhouse like Ruth Chris or Sparks. Take a stroll through Central Park & grab some dirty water dogs from the street vendors. Hang out in Times Square at night. Shop down in SoHo (SOuth of HOuston street). Buy knock off's on Canal Street & grab some chinese food for lunch @ Wo-Hop while there. Check out the World Trade Center site. Go to Rockefeller Center & do some shopping @ Bloomingdales or Macy's. Catch a concert or basketball game @ Madison Square Garden or the Brooklyn Barclay's Center.
The list literally goes on & on & on............
Let me know your food preference & I can list out a few top notch restaurants. Also, the motorcyle show in NYC is coming up around Jan. 18th-20th
I think they've destroyed my favorite spot there, all the whores, live peep shows, & massage places at Times Square use to put me in the Christmas spirit! Now I guess you're stuck doing normal stuff.

Jan 14th - Jan 20th hell yeah, I would love to check it out.
Thanks guys for info, the more info and insight I can soak up, the better my trip will be. :thumb
Gingerman is a bit corporate for my taste. If you want to get beer in Brooklyn, go to Spuyten Duyvil on Metropolitan. http://www.spuytenduyvilnyc.com
It reminds me of the cool hole in the wall bars we love down here in New Orleans.
If you are drinking in the Times Square-Hell's Kitchen area, hit House of Brews on 51st just west of 8th. Incredible selection and a great mix of cool tourists and friendly locals. I make it a point to find a hotel within walking distance of this place whenever we visit. Get the Mac & Cheese with Buffalo nuggets.
Empire State is an icon, but the view is better and the crowds are much lighter at Top Of the Rock. Plus Rockefeller Center is more fun than the downtown area that ES is in.
MOMA ( Museum of Modern Art ) is way more than just paintings. They even had a Ferrari F1 car hanging on the wall. Le Bonne Soupe is a great french bistro one block north. http://labonnesoupe.com/
The Museum of Sex has a decidedly different collection, and is worth the trip. Plus, the Waterfront Ale House is just a few blocks away ( 2nd and 30th ) and they have really good burgers and my favorite IPA's.
Oh, and you are riding the Cyclone, right?

That area ain't what it used to be.Myrtle Av is one of my old stompin' grounds. It's pretty safe these days, especially since all the white people started moving in.
There's about a million different things to do at any given time in NYC. I wouldn't even know where to point you unless having a good understanding of your likes and dislikes.
