i blasted and powdercoated my calipers. then did the seals over, upon putting the pistons back in a i had a bitch of a time. i didnt want to use a c clamp on my new finish so i put a very light dap of olive oil on my piston and they slid right back in. now im thinkin..fuck, oil reacts with brake seals

. but maybe im out of the woods because i used food grade oil and not petroleum based

You'll be okay.
I used 5w-20 synthetic once...never had a single problem. lol

Did you powder coat the outside and inside (brake pad side)? I'm about to get mine blasted and powder coated and worried the business doing the calipers doesn't really know about doing bike parts.....and I don't!

i first stripped mine with chemtool then i bead blasted, when i did this i only plugged threaded ports but i stayed away from the piston bore. some glass got in and took away the polished finish inside the bore but thats okay. i powdercoated the whole thing except inside the bores. which i plugged with some cork plugs. hope this helps!

oilve oil ?

brake fluid or vaseline grease
that s all
other kind of fluid can damage the seals

Wash them off with some spray brake cleaner !!!!

i used olive oil in the heat of the moment, not thinking. trying not to make a mess with brake fluid cause it stinks and is hard on the hands.
