Random fruit and alcohol question : Suzuki GSX-R Motorcycle Forums: Gixxer.com

Not sure if anyone here could answer this, but some buddies of mine made up some everclear and a concoction of various flavors to make an "grandma's apple pie" flavor beverage, they cut apples up and let them soak in it for a few days sealed in Mason jars....here's the question, think the apples are still safe to eat or not? I would think the alcohol would keep them fresh enough just not sure what the sugar and cinnamon would do to them if they would be spoiled...i have to assume rotten fruit mixed with 190 proof could lead to a bad night

They should be fine to eat. It will mess you up from the alcohol.

Just like filling a watermelon with tequila and letting it sit for a day. The sugars just enhance flavor and like j said the fruit will get u messed up...they sell moonshine now that has cherries, strawberries and other various fruits...the only thing i would be considerate of is how much air exposure it had. A couple days shouldnt be a problem but any longer you have a chance of different forms of bacteria that might not agree with you.

Turns out everything was fine, they ended up flash boiling the everclear killing the alcohol content...they are making more, tasted good though!

Like I said i didn't make it, didn't find out how they made it until i told them it sucked, but when time comes if Shit gets crazy you guys will be first to hear the story and see the photos!
