Cold Medicine

I hardly ever get sick but my sinuses are packed and I have a dry cough that is worse when I am lying down. No chest congestion, had a sore throat but it went away. I got 2 hrs of sleep, kept coughing. What otc medicine have you guys used that worked for you?

Re: Cold Medicine

Tylenol cold and flu severe and a nasel decongestant spray like afrin. This really allows you to breath but is temporary. I use it especially at night so I can get some sleep.

Compressed saline in a can. Super effective, and fun as hell!

Make sure you're leaning over a sink.

I have had the same kind if problem. For 3 weeks now. It is finally on the way out the door after a doctor visit and some antibiotics. I had pretty severe bronchitis though. No cough medicine worked for me. Not even the stuff with codeine in it. Good luck.

Re: Cold Medicine

alcohol will dehydrate you and may cause you to take longer to recover. Cough syrup, NyQuil ftw - plenty of vitamin C and Zinc. Soup, hot tea, as much water and liquid as you can handle.

Re: Cold Medicine

try squeezing like 5 or 6 limes into a cup and drink it without adding anything else. Dont do it right before eating cus its pretty sour and will take away your appetite, but itll temporarily make you feel better at least so you can get some sleep.

I dont know for sure, but im guessing it kills the bacteria or whatever it is thats making you sick. Its a home remedy that works temporarily.

Honey, kentucky whiskey, and water...basically a hot toddy...microwave for about 30 seconds sip slowly...squeeze a little lemon into it for extra help...i think the acidity of the lemon helps
